In short

censhare is a Munich-based software vendor whose platform combines digital asset management, product information management and content management in one system, with strong roots in print and cross-media publishing. It serves enterprise retailers, brands, manufacturers and publishers that produce large volumes of marketing content. It is majority owned by DuMont and operates within the Entirely marketing technology group.

Overview

The censhare platform manages products, assets and content as linked objects in one data model. Product records connect to images, video and documents, with version control, approval workflows, role-based permissions and multilingual localisation. Content and product data are published to e-commerce platforms, retailer portals, print catalogues and social and digital channels. Marketing resource management is delivered through native integration with MARMIND, another Entirely company. The platform is available on-premise (censhare Classic) and as censhare Cloud, launched in January 2024 and hosted in Germany with the same functions as the on-premise version. Main versions appear roughly every two years, with minor releases three times a year.

Public AI material describes automated metadata tagging, content categorisation, image and video analysis, data enrichment and configurable AI-based automation. In November 2025 censhare and MARMIND launched a module integrating technology from Smint.io. The platform is listed on AWS Marketplace as an enterprise PIM, DAM and media asset management offering, and the company reports SOC 2 and ISO 27001 certifications. The German-hosted cloud option is relevant for organisations with strict data residency requirements.

censhare development began in 2001 and the product launched in 2002 as CoWare Server; the company took the name censhare AG in 2008. DuMont Mediengruppe acquired a minority stake in 2017 and a majority stake in 2019. censhare and Contentserv are separate companies with no shared ownership. Tobias Ackermann became CEO in September 2023, when the company reported about 200 employees and about 350 customers, mostly in the enterprise segment, with branches in Switzerland, the US, the UK, the Netherlands and India.
