In short

Stibo Systems is a Danish master data management vendor whose STEP platform manages product, supplier, customer and location data in one governed model. It serves large retailers, manufacturers and distributors with complex data structures and governance needs. Its main strengths are multidomain MDM, data governance and workflow, and, since September 2026, the AgentWorkx framework for governed AI agents.

Overview

STEP is a multidomain MDM platform offered as SaaS and, for some customers, on-premise. Stibo Systems markets editions for multidomain, product and customer MDM, with product MDM covering PIM functions such as hierarchies, attribute management, enrichment and channel publication. Supplier onboarding, data quality rules, workflow and audit trails are native. A connectivity gallery provides connectors, including a GDSN receiver that loads GS1-synchronised supplier content into the product MDM solution and connectors to data pools such as atrify and 1WorldSync.

On 30 September 2026 Stibo Systems launched AgentWorkx, a framework for building, deploying and governing AI agents inside MDM. It includes an agent gallery, a studio for configuring agents and orchestration and governance tools. Launch agents include an Upload Anything agent for bringing structured and unstructured data into the platform and a Content Optimizer agent that generates product descriptions, SEO text and marketing copy from governed attributes. Customers can use vendor-built agents or build their own under the same controls.

Stibo Systems belongs to the Stibo group, whose history as a Danish printing business dates to 1794. Software work began in 1976 with Stibo Catalog, set up to manage clients' product information, which was renamed Stibo Systems in 2009 as it moved towards master data management. Stibo Systems is one of three subsidiaries of Stibo Software Group, which is wholly owned by the Stibo-Fonden foundation, giving it a long-term, non-listed ownership structure.

Strengths

  • Multidomain MDM covering product, supplier, customer and location data in one platform.
  • Data governance, data quality rules and workflow suited to large, regulated data estates.
  • GDSN receiver and data pool connectors for retailers and distributors.
  • Governed AI agent framework (AgentWorkx) launched in September 2026.

Points to evaluate

  • Enterprise scope and configuration depth mean longer implementation timelines than lightweight PIM tools.
  • Projects typically depend on certified system integrators, so partner capacity matters.
  • Several connectors are installed and licensed separately, which affects total cost of ownership.
  • Organisations that need product data only may find the multidomain scope larger than required.

Best fit

Large retailers, manufacturers and distributors that need governed product data alongside supplier, customer or location master data.

AI capabilities

AgentWorkx (September 2026) provides a gallery, studio and governance layer for AI agents in MDM, with launch agents for data onboarding and content generation from governed attributes.

Compliance and regulatory data

Stibo Systems offers a GDSN receiver for GS1-based data pools; no specific public information on a dedicated DPP module was found as of October 2026.
